Feeling somewhat better..

After too many days of an ugly cough, runny nose, restless nights and just acting miserable; we got Jaxon in to see his dr. I'm very glad I took him in since we discovered he has double ear infection :S I was feeling terrible, thinking to myself, "I put a hat on him almost always!" But she explained that the draining from his sinuses had no place else to go, so thats what caused it. Hat on or not. We left and headed straight to Costco to pick up his antibiotic, which should start making a difference in 24-48 hrs. This will only clear up the ears, the cough and runny nose have to take their course. Fingers crossed they go away before his antibiotic is finished to lessen the chances of the infection coming right back! I think the poor little guy would be feeling better if he wasn't also teething.

Not so happy.

Better after I shared some steamed brocoli. The only piece he missed is the tiny bit on his chin. Little piggy.

poor sick baby

Tossing and turning his head made his hat a little lopsided..one way to block the light out for nap time!

Happiest he's been all day-after daddy was home..surely just coincidence :p
Trying to cool down his 100.5* temp. I couldn't believe the rag didn't bother him, never once tried pulling it off! The fever is new, but he's had a yucky nose a couple days now. Causing him to have trouble breathing, making sleeping kinda tough for him. So nights have been rough for both of us!

What a busy week!

Kent was working in Goldendale all week so I got a nanny...AKA auntie Krista ;) We headed to Centerville Wednesday afternoon. Other than a few patches of some serious fog, the drive was good.
Thursday we went with auntie Kaia to the Dalles for lunch at Spooky's and some grocery shopping.

enjoying a breadstick...I'm gonna have to be careful what I eat from now on. He seems to think he needs to sample whatever I have. Needless to say he's gotten to try all kinds of things :P (Tonight I discovered sour patch kids don't even make him flinch!)

Getting to ride in the cart like he's some sort of 'big'. Had to surround him with my coat and his blanket, of course.

Friday evening we went to visit Great G & G Rhoades, only to come back to some unexpected visitors... Eric, Chad and Great Uncle Mark :) Just in time for the Rhoades' Family Christmas Saturday! Which had tons of yummy food...and visiting! Jaxon even took a good nap with all the noise going on around him. Just shortly after I finished eating though, couldn't have been so I could eat without him grabbing at my plate :p That's ok too.

We had a safe trip home this afternoon and J was a good passenger, as he has been most times lately. Some reason this evening though he has been quite upset. Notices as soon as I leave his site/the room (that is if he even lets me put him down) and is not at all happy about the situation. Walking, rocking, feeding, pacifier, orajel, tylenol....all seem to work, but just for a little bit. So I've tried a cycle, except the tylenol of course! Each seem to help him atleast forget about what ever his troubles are (teething, gas cramps...) for a few minutes anyway. OK-so while rocking him one of the many times tonight- he lost his pacifier over my shoulder and I heard it hit the wood floor. His room was dark and I couldn't see exactly where it fell. To make matters that much worse, as I was turning and bending down to find it I bonked his head on the corner of the dresser!!! UGH! I'm so terrible. After immediately giving up on that particular pacifier I began telling him how sorry I was, how much I loved him and even proceeded to tell him that if walking the floors all night was what would make him happy, I would indeed do it! (Yikes, I'm hoping that's not necessary and he doesn't take me up on the offer :p)

Probably would be feeling better if I hadn't gave him a headache!

First: Being stubborn and not looking at me....

Fine! But just this once ;)

He continues to amaze me at how good he is sitting up. I often forget he can! He plays with his toys, pulls his pacifier in and out, picks his lovey up....all while still sitting! Although he does tip over at times! Beginning to happen less and less though.

Jaxon's 6 months and family pics

Saturday morning we went to the college and took some family pics. It was soo cold out! So we decided to do the ones of just Jaxon inside. Thanks Mel, you did such a good job! We had a tough time getting him to smile, but I think we knew that would be the case before we started. The last one cracks me up-he was in the middle of showing off how he can screech :)

BTW-Today was Jaxon's 6 month well check-up. Their scale must be a little different than ours, or else he lost 3 oz. He is 27 1/4 inches TALL:77% and weighs 16 lbs 6 oz SKINNY:28%. His HC is 45, which is 82%...big head full of brains :P Was my tiny little peanut, then chubby pork chop, and now string bean :p She was impressed with his skills and didn't seem worried that he could care less about rolling over. Also she figures he will be crawling soon, for sure before he's 8 months....ahhh! Chasing him around already?! Guess we'll see :)

Baptism

Sweet little boy :)

With God Parents: Kevin and Gina Matson
Kent's Brother Chad Rhoades is also a sponsor, but is in SD and was unable to make it.
With Ken Karlsen, who baptized him.

Our baby is 1/2 a year old!!

This isn't the kind of pacifier he still uses, but I thought it was funny how it seemed to take up almost his whole face when he was a newborn (not that it still doesn't look big!).

And this was him this morning. He weighs 16 lbs. 9 oz. His well-check up is on Monday so I'll know the rest of his stats then :)

In 6 months he has learned:
  • to follow objects.
  • notices when you leave and enter the room.
  • hold/grab for toys.
  • to use a pacifier.
  • hold his head up.
  • transfer objects from one hand to another.
  • smile.
  • roll over.
  • sit up (with some assistance still).
  • eat baby cereal/food. And lots of it.
  • giggle and screech!
  • Jabber.
  • and has managed to barely cut one tooth :)

Just the two of us...

Kent is gone...shoveling snow in Spokane..off of a Target roof! Bet it's an interesting experience, that he won't soon forget :) He will for sure be gone one night, possibly two. I was hoping J would be sleeping well enough to switch to his own room when he turned 6 months, but at this rate he might be 6 YEARS!! So I think I'll give it a try when Kent gets back home, possible I'll need moral support :p

Sitting up (with help from his boppy) better than I thought he could! Of all things, he really likes the cloth butterflies lately.

****************

So tired he fell asleep! That's what happens when he tries fighting it I guess!

****************

The wind blew like crazy all night, so once again our snow is allll gone! So I'm happy about that :)

And a HAPPY New Year!

After Jaxon having a rather rough day yesterday he finally cut a tooth!! It's definately barely there, and would say it's something only a mom could feel or it is just my imagination, BUT Kent felt it too ;) My goodness, the change! He has been a much happier kid (forgot that part of him existed!) and decided to stay up and celebrate the new year and already this morning has been enjoying his toys instead of cry as soon as he could sense I was going to lay him on the floor.

So one down, and many more to come! Hopefully they aren't all that bad! I'm sure thankful we don't "teethe" as adults, must be sooo frustrating!
