We did forget a few details from yesterday, oops! One is the test results came back from Kadlec that Hayden also has two other infections-Staph and H Flu. So the combination of all three at the same time really took a toll on her. They started her on antibiotics while still at Kadlec Saturday morning just in case she did have more going on, so it has and is being treated. Her blood counts were also low so she received a blood transfusion. Common for such a sick baby. They noticed a heart murmur so did an Echo(ultrasound on her heart) on her yesterday as well and a small hole did show up, but is in the process of closing. One more thing caused by her being born 4.5 weeks early.
Her night went about the same as her day yesterday, de-stats and needing bagged. While peeking in on her this morning the dr came in so we were able to hound him with questions. He feels she's doing well for her state and even turned down the vent from 20 to 18, then down to 16! I'm not for sure if that's a whole lot, but of course being able to cut back on how much it's assisting her is a great thing, even if just a little at a time. She has been on Dopamine to help raise her blood pressure, which is now reading high meaning the medicine is helping too much. Over the next 24 hours they will be weaning her off of it. She continues to tolerate her feeds well, and is now looking normal colored as her bilirubin (jaundice) numbers keep dropping.
Kaia is up here to help us with Jaxon, and a great help that is! We're staying at the Ronald McDonald House just a mile from the hospital, so she is able to stay there with us. It has two play rooms, full kitchens and laundry facilities. So much more comfortable than a motel for our somewhat long term stay.
Try to update later.
